This is a 120 minute tape featuring my favorite remixes of my own music. Since this album changes from year to year, I only made 50 copies of this version, knowing that when they sell out, it will be time to make a new version. Usually by that time, at least one new person has submitted a new remix I'm into, which generally changes the running order of the whole album. And I like it like that. The whole idea is to try and approach a musical object more like a musical process. We make objects to convey and create processes, but we should not forget that the object, unlike the process, is frozen in time, and ceases to change. What I love about the idea of remixing is that it takes something that's done, frozen, complete, and changes it, makes it into something else. And this can be done indefinitely if the song is fertile and/or if the remixer creative enough. I'm done with thinking of music as something that's done. Thanks to everyone who has contributed to this project (since 2005!), and to those remixers who continue to inspire me about what my music can sound like.

Since this album changes from year to year, I only make 10 or 20 copies at a time, knowing that when they sell out, it will be time to make a new version. Usually by that time, someone else has submitted a new remix, which changes the running order of the whole album. And I like it like that. The whole idea is to try and approach a musical object more like a process. This is what good music does, and it's why I've been so into the idea of remixing. A remix takes something that's done, and changes it, makes it into something else. And this can be done indefinitely if the song is fertile and the remixer creative enough. I'm done with thinking of music as something that's done. Currently, the CD version is made up of two CDs. The first one is rather eclectic, ranging from IDM to hip hop to all sorts of stuff that don't fit into any known genre. The second disc features some of the more ambient, abstract, and epic remixes. Thanks to everyone who has contributed to this project (since 2005!). The images seen here are some of the old covers this thing has had over the years.

about

This is a remix of the song "Here's to Hybris", from the 2006 album "Fleur du Mal" by The C.J. Boyd Sextet, now known as Kirtan Choir.

I met Paul in Reykjavik, at the Iceland Airwaves Festival a few years ago. I had no idea he was even working on a remix until I received it in my inbox. What a lovely surprise.
