about

I asked some friends to reinterpret Arvo Pärt compositions as if they were the soundtrack to David Lynch's first film, Eraserhead. Initially, I had the plan to present the film with these new recordings as an alternative score. But that proved untenable. After years of effort, I eventually came to the conclusion that the film score as it stands is just too good to be replaced with anything whatsoever. So I have offered up these reinterpretations as an homage, not as a replacement. Thanks to Lynch and Pärt for the inspiration. Thanks to the friends who contributed to this project. And special thanks to Sandro Perri and Matthew Collings, both of whom declined my invitation to contribute precisely because I was trying to replace an irreplaceable score. Turns out you were right, fellas. I think we made some beautiful sounds nonetheless.
